Nice food but despite of my saying that I want steam rice instead of pork fried rice they have packed pork fried rice in my take away parcel..that's the reason why m giving just 3 stars..

Surprisingly really good, didn't expect much when I came in. Came in for lunch special really good food for only 7 bucks. I recommend the sesame chicken

Some places get it, others don't. Take for instance restaurants that claim to have a vegetarian soup, except it is made with chicken broth. Or under "vegetables" a listing for ma po tofu - prepared traditionally, with minced pork. On more than one occasion, after reiterating no beef, no fish, please, no meat at all, there have been pieces of animal mixed in with my vedge selections. Most recently, I found bits of stringy flesh in my STEAMED VEGETABLES (exclamation point). For traditional Chinese (American) fare, which I entirely understand is NOT what I order, it will do the trick. But if the kitchen consistently has the inability to keep things separate... Simply put, Ken Wok just doesn't get it.

I had been going to Ken Wok for years and generally it was good. Sometimes I found it a little greasy, and got heartburn, but nothing more. I did find that over the course of the last 7 years the portions have really decreased. The food selections and prices were good and consistent with the area. Unfortunately I will not be going back. Two family members were sickened by the takeout dinners from Ken Wok on 1/11/2015. Dinners consisting of pork fried rice, beef teriyaki and boneless fried chicken were purchased. One family member suffered heartburn only. The other had become violently ill 5-6 hours after eating the food. He was not able to keep food down for more than a day following that. Having studied food safety and noticing the time frame the sickness occurred and the symptoms endured, it is almost certain food poisoning. The person who was sickened had only one thing different than the other person and that was boneless fried chicken. Its too bad they were not safe with their food preparation because now they lost 3 customers and possibly more.

One of my favorite chinese restaurants.. Inexpensive , tasty, alot of flavor in everything.. Amazing chicken wings and beef teriaky, the rice is sooo good not to grease like other places.. Great portions and the staff is so nice , I asked to make sure my food was spicy and it came out to perfection, the mushrooms, the chicken fingers just amazing..

I have only been here once but enjoyed myself. I ordered the chicken pad thai and crab rangoon. Both were super tasty. I came with a larger party and everything came out at the same time piping hot. I REALLY enjoyed the alcoholic beverages. Yum yum!

Surprised by the reviews before, I tried here this Sunday, and it was soooo good!!! Nice and clean inside, and the food are awsome! What I tried: sesame chicken, chicken finger, pai thai combo

I ate here with one of my best friends and we both loved it! The food was delicious, especially the crab rangoons and everything came out really hot and fresh. The prices weren't bad either. I didn't think this place would be as good as it was but it surprised me for sure. I would go back again.

Standard Chinese food in not the best area of Providence is something I was actually fairly happy to find. I walked in around noon on a Monday and it was completely dead but at least they were open that day when others in the area were closed. I loved the fish tank in the main lobby full of massive goldfish who always seem to have their mouth open looking to try and tell you something. I got takeout but the restaurant inside was nice enough to not scare away those that are leery of Chinese places, in general. I had the cashew chicken with a spring roll and fried rice for about $7. It was an adequate amount of food. The sauce for the chicken was somewhat salty (MSG? I don't know) but everything else was good enough to warant a 3.5 star rating for the food. Nothing to write to Hong Kong about but not the worst I've ever had by far, either. I'll be trying more of the lunch specials as I work in the area for a short period of time, it warrants a repeat visit which is good enough for me. There are few options in this area so I can assure you that Ken Wok is decent enough to be a staple for N. Providence.

I remember the very first time I went to Ken Wok about 6 or 7 years ago and I left feeling satisfied and thinking that I would definitely come back again. I have, in fact, been back to Ken Wok a few more times since my first visit but the last two times have left a bad taste in my mouth; literally and figuratively. The first bad taste expierience happened when I ordered take out for myself and my friend; my friends order was fine but I had ordered jumbo shrimp and broccoli, but instead I got chicken and broccoli. Ok, no big deal.... except for the fact that the chicken was veiny and rubbery and after one bite of one piece, I decided to stick with eating just the rice. Even the broccoli had an odd, metal-like taste to it. Ok fine. About a year goes by and another friend and myself decided to order take out from them again and this time, they got my order right but again, the food was really poor. My friend woofed hers down and was pleased, but me... not so much. I felt like it had that same metal'ish taste to it and the "jumbo" shrimp were more like "mini" shrimp and there were only 3 or 4 of them floating in an entire head of broccoli. I won't ever order food from Ken Wok again. I know I can be a bit of a food snob at times, but we're talking about some basic Chinese food here; I find it ludicrous that they can screw it up considering that's what type of food they sell. Thanks, but no thanks Ken Wok. I'll be spending my money elsewhere when I have a hankering for Chinese.

When you are starving and craving Chinese food this is the go to place in No Pro. The broccoli with oyster sauce is divine! Be careful with the dumplings and the soup --- I assumed it was vegetable and both were not. I should have asked. Next time I have more to say about the vegetarian versions. This place is yum and delivery was right on time.

I was a little hesitant in coming here because I very much dislike spending money on food I don't like (I am soo frugal it's embarrassing...) and the ratings here aren't so much even average? But my friend comes here regularly and she loves it so I decided to believe her over these strangers and tagged along. I have to say, the restaurant is pretty good. I would come again. Their beef teriyaki is amazing! I am very picky with my beef teriyaki and I love Ken Wok's. I got the General Tso's chicken just because it's usually a safe dish. This was amazing! And it looked great! Some restaurants have the ugliest fried chicken clumps... haha. My friend got MaPo tofu and this was also very very good. I just might have to get it next time! Tofu is usually a scary dish to get outside of the home because not many people know how to use it, but Ken Wok does! and I fell in love haha. P.S. As I was reading Dan D's review about his Fried Wontons... It really bugged me that he was upset that there was meat in it.... I found that really strange that he would get mad. Of course the wait staff should not have been inappropriately rude but: "A fried wonton is just crispy fried dough," who says that? I googled "fried wontons" and most, if not all, of the recipes (on the first page) included pork.... It's like ordering spaghetti at a restaurant and getting mad that there are onions in them because you don't believe that there should be onions in them....

Terrible customer service. Woman who takes orders by phone makes many mistakes but blames customers and will not issue refunds or corrections to orders. She hangs up on customers who complain. And, she owns the restaurant!!!! Food is average at best. Just a few blocks down is Best Eastern Chinese. The owner is very friendly and appreciative of the business. I've only tried a few dishes but can honestly say that their food is much better, Ken Wok are terrible business people and I will never be back.

I try to be very fair in my reviews but I have to say, ordering for Ken Wok was one of the worst experiences in delivery and dining that I can remember. I have to question the individual who wrote the five star review, we are all entitled to our own opinions but I wonder the authenticity of it. To start with, I ordered lunch delivered for a business meeting. My company had a guest in town and where I normally order from was unable to deliver. Our guest had a flight to catch at 1pm; I placed the order at 1145 and was told 30-40 minutes. By 1235 the food had not arrived, I phoned and was told he had left five minutes ago (the business is 10 minutes away). I called again at 1245 and was told that we were too far and their web site says a 3 mile max, (this is NOWHERE on their web site) that's why he was late. I called again at 1255 and attempted to cancel, the owner refused to refund my money and I was told credit only, she then hung up on me.. The food arrived at 105pm, after our guest had left. I wish I could say the food was worth the wait but it definitely was not! I ordered Crispy Shrimp and got Crispy Duck (more like soggy duck), the duck was so dry you could smoke it and the outside was wet, cold and soggy. The nim chow was very bland, all lettuce with a couple of shrimp and a few rice noodles (no yummy basil leaves). The scallion pancakes and Pad Tai were ok but ice cold. Needless to say, I will not be ordering here again!!

I love it! It's down the street from my office so it's very convenient. I am normally able to get in and out. The shrimp and broccoli is delish!

We've ordered delivery from here a few times - decent Chinese food. Nothing special. The past two times we ordered a boneless spear ribs combo they brought us boneless chicken, not spear ribs. The first time we let it go...we're not big complainers and don't like to be difficult. This most recent time they made the same error again. This time I decided to call to let them know. I was super nice and was not upset at all. However, I was yelled at by the woman who answered the phone. She told me not to tell her that she made an error and that she heard me say boneless chicken. After the third time she said it I started laughing - it was comical. No apology, no offer to fix it. No next time we will be sure to get it right. The woman actually had the nerve to hang up on me. They definitely lost us a customers that's for sure. Never again!

BEWARE, TERRIBLE!!!!!! We ordered delivery and paid cash and a hour and a half later the food came cold with half the order missing. I called to tell them of the missing items and the cold temperature. I was told I could have a $10.00 credit only good for a week. Unacceptable. If the food was not so disgusting, or cold, or if we had not had such a long wait it wouldn't have been so bad. I will never do business her again.

The food is flavorless. There's no semblance of spice, aromatics, or anything else that would rate this above the frozen section of BJ's. None of the Chinese restaurants I've tried out here have been particularly good, but this is the first which I've found offensively bad. There is zero passion in the kitchen, and nothing memorable about the food. Unless you've never had quality Chinese food, you will not be impressed by anything here. Even if you just want to eat something cheap, salty and greasy, you're better off elsewhere.

Ken wok has soups that are out of this world! Don't listen to any negatives here because those people don't have a clue. The Hot & Sour soup and all the entrees are top notch. The foods are prepared by culinary arts master chefs. Remember, this is a Chinese restaurant, not a Cambodian or Thai or Vietnamese, so if you want those type of dishes, you should go to those type of restaurants. As far as the Chinese food is concerned and fresh vegetables and the utmost in cleanliness when preparing food and for reasonable prices, this place can't be beat. It's a great place to bring clients, have parties, and schedule events. No other restaurant has lasted there as long as Ken Wok has and that's because the food matters, tea, service, and especially the soups, egg rolls, crab rangoons, and drinks. We eat there as often as we can and we go there sometimes with Chinese friends and they love it. Try it. You'll be a returning customer. I guarantee it!

Ken Wok could be classified as above "mediocre" and below "awesome". The food is pretty run of the mill, but with the added convenience of delivery and online ordering. One thing the do really well are crab rangoons though, I don't know what it is, but they're shaped different and they're just awesome. Their lo mein is a bit rich and overly greasy and their chicken rice soup is just canned broth and rice, but their sweet & sour chicken is good and their boneless ribs are reeeeeeally good if you like them greasy (i do) as is the beef teriyaki. Nobody has gotten the rat-a-tat-tats from eating here so far, so Ken Wok deserves a gold star in that respect. However, if you're in North Providence driving and you don't need delivery, I'd go to Galaxie II up the street because their lo mein, chicken rice soup, S&S chicken, etc are all a star higher (though Ken Woks crab rangoon might have them beat).

I had the worst experience with this place. The delivery driver gave us the wrong bag...then came back to switch it. When we got tye food we ordered, there were thibgs missing from our order. When we called the place, they called me a liar sayig they put everything in the bag. After paying a 2$ delivery fee..he refused to re deliver the items they forgot. They are very rude nasty people and i do not recommebd this place to anyone. Yuck!

After reading the reviews here I was a little hesitant to try Ken Wok, to my surprise, it was actually really good. The portions are really big and the flavor was good. I ordered the chicken and mushrooms combo. There was a good amount of chicken, the rice was really good and it came with crab Rangoon and just like one of the reviewers wrote, they are really good. Definitively worth a try. Probably the best Chinese food restaurant i have tried in RI so far (and yes, i did try Galaxy)

I ate here for the third time in the last 6 months, and I must say, this was the best of the three. Our waitress was the sweetest girl and got our order exactly right. My Orange Chicken was perfect, as was the Pork fried rice. I also ordered a side order of french fries, which was HUGE. The soda was great, which can be hit or miss at some places, due to the mixing of syrup and carbonation, but it was perfect. My friends ordered boneless spare ribs, crab rangoons, and teryaki chicken, all of which was top notch. All in all, I can't wait to go back. The prices are pretty comparable around here. I truly recommend KEN WOK in NORTH PROVIDENCE. As a huge 'Chinese Food' fan, I only eat at the best around, and right now Ken Wok is in my favorites.

I ahve been going to Ken Wok for years and am good friends with the staff and owner. Ken wok has a selection of excellent soups and food. Their Chicken Lo Main is wonderful, it had flavor, lots of big pieces, just enough sauce, and lots of veggies without being overloaded, also portions are BIG. Other items to definitely try is the crab rangoons, Beef teriyaki, egg drop soup, wonton soup, steamed dumplings, and my fiance swears by their Curry chicken. Their food is affordable, and their lunch menu is a great convenience. with lots to choose from, and well priced at that, I love stopping there on payday for an afternoon lunch date. I have gotten all my friends addicted there and I totally recommend it! Clean dining area, speedy service, and good personality is what has kept me coming there for years! Worth the visit!

Ken Wok is very similar to the old China Royal in Fall River, MA. Their food is very consistently prepared. Fall River style Chow Mein featuring dark noodles with meat and vegetables are a favorite. I frequently have the General Tso's chicken. Each piece of chicken is lightly battered and thoroughly flavored. Unlike other places, the chicken is white meat, with only a small amount of noticeable fat. The sauce is spicy enough for me, though it is rated a spicy item of the menu, it doesn't make my eyes water. We have made our fair share of visits and travel nearly 30 minutes to get there. Our service is always pleasant and prompt. Noodles with sweat and sour sauce is served with drinks. They feature a full bar, directTV and free broadband WiFi.

HAIR IN FOOD!! They lost a previously happy, loyal, consistent customer today. My boyfriend and I usually order food from Ken Wok on average once a week. Tonight, after cutting my egg roll in half and taking a bite I noticed a black hair, thought it might just be my own but when I pulled at it, it was intertwined and stuck in the egg roll. It was definitely cooked inside and long..actually pulled food out of the egg roll as I pulled the hair out. I am not one to complain & know that mistakes happen so I figured I'd call and maybe next time we order I can have it replaced..or ANYTHING they'd like to offer me. Was I wrong! The first thing she (the owner) said to me was, "It's not a hair..people think it is but it's not. It's white right?" I said no, it's black and it's definitely a hair. She continued to tell me that no one working in the kitchen has long black hair. (it was about 3 inches) Every time I tried to talk, she would cut me off. Put me on hold several times and finally came back to say, "it wasn't a hair. Sorry you feel that way, have a good night, goodbye" and hung up on me!!!! I immediately called back almost in tears and appalled by the way she was treating a loyal customer. (Which I mentioned numerous times that we normally love the food and are consistent customers) When she picked up the second time I actually asked, "Did you just hang up on me??" We had ordered delivery that night and she said if I want to bring it back with the hair then she'll see if it's a hair. Are you kidding??? No, I'm not getting into my car and driving to you so you can "see" if it's a hair. Especially after how she's been talking to me, the fact that I already pulled the entire hair out of the egg roll (wish I had left it hanging out) and I just KNEW she'd take one look at my hair and tell me it's probably mine. I wouldn't be able to handle the anxiety. I STILL told her I wasn't looking for anything extra, just maybe if she could take my name down or something and help me out the next time we order. She said no. I said, "As a business owner myself I just CANNOT believe you are treating your LOYAL customer this way. I will NOT order from you again and I will make sure to spread this story of how you treated me." She said, "Well I love all of my customers" hahaha!!! Apparently we have different views of that meaning. After a total of 13 minutes on the phone and her interrupting me I said I'm hanging up now and did. I WILL NEVER RETURN TO THIS HORRIFIC BUSINESS OWNER. And from the look of previous reviews, I'm unfortunately not the only one who got this treatment.

Great food! It's too bad that every time it gets delivered it looks like it fell off the passenger seat en route. Everything is covered is sauce and takes 10 mins to clean it up before you can enjoy it. For that reason I can only give 3 stars.

I find myself thinking about the chicken wings in oyster sauce appetizer from Ken Wok in North Providence. I've been there several times and like the food very much. So far I've never had anything I didn't like. Get the chicken wings in oyster sauce. The pieces of chicken are large and it is delicious!!!! All I can say is Mmmmmmmm. I always get take out because I live near there. The parking is good if you want to eat in.

Still a good meal, no complaints. I do not eat the spicy stuff and my friends seem to work up a sweat when they do. The food was plentiful and the server had a good attitude along with attentive service. Both myself and my friends enjoyed our meals, although my friends are Chinese they say this is good American Chinese style food.

Utterly disappointed. We ordered a pork dish - the pork in it was beyond its expiry date. On being told, the management just reduced our final bill by $3! I don't think this place even cares about basic food safety and hygiene. I am never going back.

I have been to Ken Wok for 3 times and was extremely satisfied with service and food. The owners were serious about their business and loved to interact with the customer. Food is awesome, the best Chinese food you can find besides Chinatown. I will definitely go again when I am there next time.

Awful. I got t he General Tso's chicken, which was all sweet and no spice. The chicken part was decent, but the sauce was a nightmare of garish sweetness. There wasn't a single chilli pepper in the sauce. i also tried the egg rolls, which were dull and tedious. I will not be going back.

Gross! I feel a little bad writing this, because the waitstaff was nice and they depend on customers to make their living but I also feel just as bad for anyone who actually decides to eats there. This is the worst Chinese restaurant I've ever eaten at. The food and drinks were horrible. Some of the food, 1 of the drinks and a sauce all tasted like the dentist, I know no other way to describe it, it tasted like when you are at the dentist and the dentist has hand in your mouth doing dental work. That's the taste. Considering how bad it was, the prices were a bit high, they'd be decent prices for a good Chinese restaurant, but when no one at your table can finish their food or drink because it taste so horrible, you leave with the feeling you've been robbed. They should have named this place yáy shí (Dentist Food), because much like a dentist you leave with the feeling you paid more then you should have and a bad taste in your mouth. I still feel queasy thinking about this place. AVOID.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
